Absolutely loved the cottage and the village. Will definitely come back. Extremely good location for visiting all the surrounding places of interest and Chatsworth. Brilliant few days! Haddon Hall, especially, was worth the visit and only round the corner!
We loved every day in this beautiful and cosy cottage! Very welcoming and it had everything one needs. Winster is lovely. We hope to come back soon! Thank you!
Lovely old cottage with great fireplace, beds were very comfortable. Great cottage for us as a family and we loved the village. Only a short stay, wished we could stay longer :)
Love, love, love the cottage! So quaint and cosy :-) Comfortable beds and a fantastic bathroom. Very well equipped. We were certainly well catered for. Beautiful location. We walked at Burbage, visited Bakewell. Duke has loved his holiday and lots of lovely walks. We have all said we wish we were staying longer. We will definitely be back. Thank you for our wonderful stay. Will be recommending to family and friends
Very quaint and authentic cottage (watch your head). Lovely area, friendly people. Dog loved all the walks (Lumsdale valley, Carsington Water, Curbar Edge, Ilam etc). Bathroom is amazing, kitchen well appointed. Loved the fire when it took a chilly turn.
Jasmine Cottage is perfect for our needs. It had everything we needed for our stay. Although we didn’t have great weather the cottage soon warmed us up when we returned. Enjoyed all the local walks and pubs. Also we have a few good meals at Monyash Bulls Head which is not too far away. We both had a great time, thanks x
We found the cottage comfortable and well equipped and enjoyed a lovely long weekend. Winster is delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed the walk on the Limestone Way over towards Bonsall. Food at the Bowling Green pub was a perfect way to spend Sunday lunchtime on a glorious blue sky day. Thank you
Excellent cottage, perfect for our family of four. Such a comfortable home to come back to after our days of adventure. We thoroughly enjoyed the Peak District and vicinity. Plenty of historic homes, neolithic sites and walks were visited and we would love to stay longer but the boys have to go back to school.
Very cosy and comfy cottage. Very well equipped. The fire was a challenge to light! Changeable weather, fog/rain/sun but lovely walk to Clough Wood & Stanton Moor
We have had a lovely short break in this cosy cottage. I have just about mastered the stairs up to the twin room! It has everything we needed for a wonderful stay. The Green pub does great meals – try the chickpea curry (even if you are not veggie, it is wonderful)
Lovely cottage, well equipped and comfortable. All you need for a comfortable and relaxing break.
Have stayed in lovely Winster many times – our favourite Derbyshire village. This time our short break spent relaxing in Jasmine Cottage. Full of character – great bathroom and perfect location. Old Bowling Green Inn recommended for warm welcome and tasty food. We also enjoy the Miner’s Standard and inevitably end up chatting to local folk. This time with several rounds of Jack Daniels!! The local community shop is wonderful and we always support it, buying eggs, bacon, milk, bread, marmalade, pork pies, buns, newspapers etc. On this occasion we had an amazing 4 hour trip with Steven in his vintage Ford Model A car. Highly recommend as a special treat. Matlock is a great place to wander – antique shops and good butcher. Try their pies! Bakewell, Belper, Ashbourne, Bonsall walks, wine, clear air. Fantastic!
What a lovely, cosy little cottage!! We weren’t very lucky with the weather as it rained the whole time but having the fire going in this cosy little cottage was lovely! The bits of snow and sun on the last day were just an ideal end to our anniversary break! Thank you for sharing this place with all of us!
We have had a lovely weekend in Jasmine Cottage. The weather was an added bonus to an ideal, relaxing weekend. The cottage with delightful and very well-stocked. We finally got the hang of lighting the fire and loved exploring Winster. We can thoroughly recommend buying the book “Walks around Winster” from the fantastic community shop for £3.50. We managed to complete two of the walks and were impressed with all the information provided! The community shop is a real gem – we used it as much as we could. The staff were always friendly and the shop very well stocked. We had a meal at the old Bowling Green and were made very welcome by the staff and fellow customers. The whole weekend exceeded our expectations and we would love to return.
We had a fantastic time. Thank you x
Had such a relaxing stay – couple of muddy walks, couple of hot baths, couple of open fires and a couple dozen glasses of wine in the Bowling Green Inn. Would love to come back. Thank you x
Delightful cottage, quirky, with everything you need to make a wonderful stay. Lovely walks. Thank you
A gorgeous cottage with loads of character and quirkiness. Very comfortable and cosy. Beautiful location with lots of places to visit and walk for us and the dog. Lovely touch to have a Christmas tree and few decorations up around the cottage. The shower and bath will be sadly missed!! Also, the fire was so relaxing and made the cottage complete. The cottage was very well equipped with all equipment and touches to make the stay stress free. We will happily come back to visit again as we didn’t get to some of the places we would have liked to see. Thank you. Marian was very helpful and supply of logs and we requested. We can’t wait to come again.
What a wonderful pre-Christmas break. Lots of walking, sightseeing and shopping. Very comfortable cottage. Lovely to have the tree, a welcome touch. Chatsworth – ‘the Nutcracker’ – a real winner.
Although not our first time to Winster, this was our first stay in Jasmine Cottage – it certainly won’t be our last.
Such a charming and comfortable cottage, beautifully decorated and what a bathroom! The open fire is an added bonus.
The dogs are settled straight away and we had a wonderful weekend. Thank you!
Interesting cottage – lovely area to explore and lots of places nearby.
Jasmine Cottage is charming. From first booking with the owner, the excellently humoured Marian, we somehow knew it would be. The location itself is superb, Winster is a beautifully situated village and we leave envious of all who can call it home.
The Bowling Green was open and we enjoyed a great evening meal there; as we also did at The Miners Standard at the top of the village.
The cottage is a delight; though both tall we managed to move around with minimum concussion and much amusement. It’s so very homely, comfortable and relaxing. The bathroom and shower are a great bonus. Hugely efficient and refreshing. As a base, it’s perfect. Wonderfully adjacent to the rich vein of Bakewell puddings and, of course, to the other joys we encountered (including the Monsal Trail, The Crich Tramway Museum, Eyam plague village, The Chatsworth Estate and so much more)
Thank you, Marian for a wonderful holiday in a beautiful little cottage.
Lovely cottage, ceiling a bit low for 6ft 4″ husband but quickly got used to it. Friendly local shop. Unfortunately, The Bowling Green pub was closed on Monday/Tuesday. Visited Chatsworth – well worth a visit. We had great weather. Thank you
Our second visit. Weather behaved itself and the cottage was as welcoming as before. Lovely walk to Birchover. Maazi in Matlock serves the best curry ever, which is impressive. The Peacock at Rowsley served wonderful fish and chips. A great spot for lunch. All in all a lovely weekend. Many thanks.
Cottage is a delghtful mix of “Ancient and [tasteful] Modern” We enjoyed its comfort and its quaintness. Friendly village and excellent shop/PO. Lovely weather.
What a lovely, authentic and charming cottage. We enjoyed staying here for three nights. The area was superb. Such a beautiful piece of countryside and Winster is a lovely village. The cottage was well equipped with a cozy atmosphere. Overall the location was fantastic and so close to many towns and villages. Being from Australia, it was lovely to experience and English cottage. Thank you for providing such a nice accommodation.
We had a wonderful stay in Jasmine Cottage: walking every day all from the doorstep – we didn’t use our car once! Lovely home cooked meal in the old Bowling Green and a great fish and chips at the Druid Inn, Birchover. Beautiful sunny weather. Thank you
Had a lovely stay in this beautiful quaint cottage. Lovely walks and weather was kind. (Love the bathroom) Thank you x
Lovely cottage, great walks. Cute village and lovely people.
We had a lovely stay in this lovely cottage, lovely walks and places to eat.
We came here for the Eroica Britannia bike festival and we had a lovely time looking around the village and seeing n things. The festival was fun and interesting, seeing all the vintage bikes – the only downside was how muddy it was – who can’t beat a muddy festival! Thank you for such a lovely stay in your cute and cosy cottage.
Had a lovely weekend here in this gorgeous cottage. Thank you for everything! Love the new bathroom! Great location-lovely local pub. Excellent walks. Don’t want to go home!
Been several times to Derbyshire, but not to Winster. It is a beautiful part of Derbyshire, which we have thoroughly enjoyed. The cottage is lovely and equipped with everything you would need. The bed linen and towels were beautifully clean and the bed very comfortable. All kitchen equipment nice and clean.
Very nice cottage. Had a lovely time. Both children fell in very muddy puddles and we were so grateful for such a good wash machine. Very cosy stay indeed. We would love to return.
Lovely village and cottage. Great meals at the Bowling Green and Miners Standard. Perfectly located for walking. Many thanks
Thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage. Loved the fire!! Cosy, full of charm, nearly perfect the village is lovely and we recommend the Bowling Green for lovely food. Our first time in the Peaks but we will be back as well.
Our second stay at Jasmine Cottage – last year was only for a weekend before transfer to another cottage! We fell in love with this wonderful (and I use the same word again) quirky cottage so now we are back for a full nine nights! Arriving here last Friday, after a 5 1/2 hour drive to a lovely warm cottage was a great start. Last year’s impressions were correct – this is a lovely, comfortable cottage where you feel ‘at home’ and relaxed very quickly! There are so many walks so easily accessible from here. We’ve been lucky that we only had one really wet day, and that was when we did a walk that started (and finished) in Winster (and visiting Robin Hood’s Stride). For anyone new to the Peaks you must go to Ladybower reservoir and, if keen walkers, Kinder Scout (scene of the 1932 mass trespass which led to the Peak District National Park)
Practical note, I hope you are lucky enough to come when it’s cold jasmines far is very easy to light (Yoda thinks it’s wonderful) . Thanks for a great stay Marian, Yoda says thanks for the hairdryer. In the words of Arnie ‘We’ll be back’!!
Back in Winster for our third visit, and this time to Jasmine Cottage – delightful and cosy amid the wintry gloom. Thanks for a lovely stay – we’ll be back!
Lovely to be back again! Enjoy everything in and around the cottage! Definitely will be back again. Thank you for preparing everything
Lovely cottage! Came for a Christmas walking holiday. Cottage had everything you could want. Lovely friendly village and pubs
Enjoyed a relaxing break at this lovely, cosy cottage. So quiet and Winster is a lovely little place. Thank you
Great cosy cottage to gather together, good pubs and food just down the road too! Thank you
Lovely comfortable cottage and in a great location for exploring the Peak District. Enjoyed cycling the Monsal Trail, great fun and beautiful scenery especially in the autumn. Winster is a lovely village and very friendly. Look forward to returning again
Always a pleasure to return to this lovely cottage and friendly village, always new walks to take our dogs, see you again. Thank you
Lovely comfortable and cosy cottage in a great location. Fantastic walking all around – Dovedale and Monsal Dale worth a short drive and if you want to walk from the cottage follow the Limestone Way to Youlgrave, then come back across fields via Elton. The only thing we missed was a shower. Both Winster pubs are very friendly and do decent, good value food.
Lovely, long weekend, helped by the weather. Beautiful part of the country. Long walk at Dovedale and visits to Bakewell and Castleton. We have really enjoyed our stay.
Had a lovely short break in this very cosy cottage. Weather was kind and good walks were had along with a visit to the beautiful Haddon Hall. :-)
Had a wonderful short break, peaceful. Long country walks. Charming cottage. Thank you :-)
This short break in Winster has been lovely. The cottage is beautiful and has everything we needed for our stay. Thinking about re-visiting in the winter to make good use of the amazing fireplace! Thank you for having us!
Lovely cottage, very well equipped with amazing views and lovely log fire. Unfortunately, our stay wasn’t long enough but hope to be back again one day! Lovely village and great picturesque locations!
We had a lovely time
What a wonderful getaway for 5 days. Especially fortunate to have stayed during wakes week and to be part of the village celebrations of all weekend. Amazing. Fabulous weather, great walks, good ale at the pub and the quiet haven we were looking for. Perfect cottage for our requirements – will be back! Thank you
This place was amazing and it has lots of games and my Dad did the Peak Epic and he was awesome.
Note from owner – I’m a keen cyclist and would think twice about doing the “Peak Epic” – well done – I agree with Rowan
Many thanks for a lovely break – the cottage is very homely, full of charm and very well situated. the village and its surroundings are beautiful. We had very enjoyable walks and bike rides. Merci
Entered Winster in the dark and so it wasn’t until the following morning that we discovered how beautiful a place it is! Good dog walks out of the village by going up East Bank onto the Limestone Way or down beside the shop towards Birchover.
This cosy cottage had everything to make it a perfect break – will certainly be coming back! Thank you!
We all had a super time. The weather was perfect for walking so visited all the old haunts and had a delicious curry in the former Ritz cinema in Matlock! Delightful cottage and Winster is just gorgeous.
We have had a lovely relaxing break in this lovely cottage. Very comfortable and home from home! Loved the open fire which made our nights lovely and cosy! We’ve had lovely meals in the Bowling Green and enjoyed a drink outside The Druid (Birchover). We also enjoyed a meal at The Packhorse Inn (little Longstone, near Bakewell) which we could not fault. We have walked some lovely walks and would recommend the Monsal Trail. Winster is a lovely little village and was a perfect place for our short break.
Lovely, comfortable cottage set in a lovely village. the cottage had everything we needed. The Bowling Green pub in the village served good food but you were only allowed in the cold conservatory with the dogs. Walked from Winster to Stanton Moor, Nine Ladies Stone Circle and Robin Hood’s Stride today which was a good walk. Got an Indian takeaway from Bakewell this evening which was really good. We all had a lovely weekend, thank you.
Had a wonderful stay in a delightful Jasmine Cottage. The open fire was fantastic after long days visiting the beautiful area. Monsal Dale Trail is a must, we had a great day. Thank you for a wonderful stay in the Peak District.
What a delightfully quirky cottage. I’d love to know what it was like originally in terms of layout before this impressive conversion took place. Everything we needed was here for a lovely weekend stay and the WiFi easily coped with 3 users at the same time. Winster is a lovely village and we were able to get the Telegraph every day at the village shop (not bad but get there early to avoid disappointment). We’ve often driven through Winster on our way to walks on previous visits to the Peak District so it was great to stay here a while. Thank you Marian and Martin for a lovely stay.
Had a lovely time. Perfect cottage, perfect location, lovely area. Hope to be back in the future. Don’t want to go home. Thank you.
We have a great few days and is comfortable cottage and beautiful area. Very cosy to return to after a walk. We had a lovely mail at the Druids in, staff great and very dog friendly. Miners Standard a fine local, also if you have a dog, very friendly.
Fantastic relaxing break. Great food at the Bowling Green pub. Very friendly little village. We will be back. Thank you for a lovely warm cottage with everything that you need also we have stayed at Castleton in another cottage and by the same people. Same high standard of accommodation. Thank you again.
We had a lovely and relaxing stay in your lovely cottage. The fireplace is great and very cosy. Eaten out at the pub down the road where the dog was made very welcome and food was great. We will definitely be back
Thank you for a super cottage, perfect location, week goes too quickly. Oscar and Poppy loved the hills and walks!
Thanks for a lovely stay in your cosy cottage. We enjoyed the lovely village, very friendly people and we enjoyed visiting both pubs! Beautiful surroundings.
Enjoyed our stay, weather was very good. Cottage and village delightful. People very friendly towards us. Had lots of interesting and lovely walks
Love your cottage but could do with a proper shower and parking is a problem I wasn’t aware of. The village is lovely and a great base for a few days away. The dogs loved it too. Monsal Trail is fab. (Note from Marian and Martin: Parking is on-street right outside of the cottage. There may not always be a space available however. Parking can otherwise usually be found within a couple of hundred metres)
Lovely, relaxing weekend in your beautiful, cosy cottage. Very friendly people in the village, especially in the pub!
Had a great time. Gorgeous central position for majority of attractions. Cottages fab!
We had an amazing time. Beautiful surroundings. We love the cottage, despite the tiny doors. Some of us banged our heads at the back door. The fire place has been used frequently. The people in this area are very friendly, helpful and like to have a good laugh. Many thanks.
We had a lovely break in Jasmine Cottage. The food in the Bowling Green and Miners Standard was good. The people of Winster are friendly and warm, welcoming. I would recommend anyone to stay here and hopefully will return soon ourselves. Many thanks.
Lovely walk in the hills for a change! Weather has been very goo – mostly dry and warm – cottage cosy and comfortable – enjoyed the log fires (especially Portia the Labrador). We had a great stay, thanks.
Excellent position for touring the Peak District. Clumber Park well worth a visit for a flat walk. Dogs now as tired as us. Weather has been very kind through the week – no complaints
We came for a mini family weekend away. What a lovely quaint village and quirky little cottage! Highlights of the trip have been a beautiful walk at Dovedale, a visit to Bakewell for a proper Bakewell our, the very scenic walk to the “nine ladies” stone circle and back – particularly walking through fields of the cutest little lambs. Also the Druid Inn (at Birchover), what it lacks in drink choice it makes up for next tasting meals! All in all a fab stay! The dogs have loved their very long walks, and I would quite like to live here – shame I’m about to go back to university! That her family decided that’ll always be a location oversize ever I buy a house! Thanks
Every year mum, dad, my sister Lauren and I go away for a long weekend to reconnect as it is very easy to lose touch nowadays. We have travelled all over Europe together, but a weekend in this adorable cottage was absolutely perfect, and exactly what we needed. It helped that our cheeky beagle, Bob, could come too! The cottage has everything you could want and the local pub is ace! Even catered for fussy vegans like me! Highly recommend a walk around Chatsworth Park, you certainly feel like you deserve your pint in the Druid Inn afterwards. We will be back! Thank you
Had a relaxing holiday in this quaint old cottage. Lovely village and locals. Can highly recommend the Red Lion at Birchover. Had a really tasty meal. Hope to come again soon. Thanks for everything
Fantastic Cottage – everything we needed, and more besides! Visited Bakewell, lots of local walks to Elton, Birchover, Clough would, dogs thoroughly enjoyed it. Meal at “Bowling Green” Great!! Can’t wait to come again. Locals very friendly. Thank you
An utterly charming cottage in a delightful location. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable long weekend. An area with a wealth of interest, great walks and delicious pub food. It will be a joy to spread your good names!
Had a relaxing time in this beautiful cottage. Lots of great dog walks and we watched the Olympics (now we’ve had the time!). Enjoyed visiting Bakewell and Buxton. Thank you, you will be recommended! The twin room was spectacular and was very much enjoyed by my sister and me :-) Thanks, Lorna and Josie (aged 14 and 10) Our dog Sadie had a great time!
Absolutely beautiful cottage, had a fab time. Would love to come back in the summer. Even spring time would be fantastic. Only negative thing – caught my Mum playing Candy Crush!
A lovely way to see in the New Year. Great walks no rain and lovely fires and game playing in the evenings. Perfect – thanks.
We had a lovely break and very much were able to relax. Little rain to speak of, very mild. Cottage was spot on for our needs
Great break and walk every day. We were lucky and missed any rain. The cottage was perfect and great location.
Breathtaking scenery, excellent local hostelries. The cottage ticks all the boxes. The open fire a real bonus. Thank you
What a find! Wonderful cottage and everything we needed. The beds comfortable and everywhere so peaceful! Can highly recommend Kings head at Bonsal, good old pub was excellent food and warm welcome. Visited Matlock, Ashbourne, Buxton and there was a great country Park for Buster. Lots of lovely walking even got to use the fire on Thursday evening as wet and cold. We’ve all had a lovely relaxing time sorry to leave thank you ( hope to return)
We had a lovely stay in Jasmine Cottage. Some really nice walks, the cottage was very cosy and had everything we needed. Hope to return in the future
Once again a fantastic stay in this lovely cottage. Great weather and some great walks. Hope to be back soon many thanks
A very enjoyable stay. A beautiful cottage, full of character. Will look forward to coming again.
Was lucky enough to book this cottage at the last minute. What a fantastic place to recharge our batteries. The cottage is very comfortable in a very quiet area. We loved all the walks around Winster and so did our dog. Thank you for making it a perfect break.
Had a wonderful stay. Loved the cosy cottage and the lovely village. Had lovely meals in the pubs especially the Miners Standard at the top of the very steep hill. Enjoyed every minute and don’t want to go home. Will return with walking boots and energy.
Lovely cottage very comfortable pity it was too warm to light the open fire! Never lacked for anything, in the cottage or the village itself an idyllic location to explore Derbyshire. Thanks very much.
We had glorious weather and were lucky enough to be here for Winster carnival which was so much fun. Jasmine cottage beautiful – the best let we have stayed in and will definitely be returning perhaps in the winter so we can use a wonderful fireplace. Good quality, understated furnishings ensure the cottage is a peaceful and comfortable place to relax, whilst retaining its character appropriately
Thank you for a wonderful week we really clicked with the weather the only downside is that it’s been too warm to have the fire on! Kitted out with everything we needed we cooked all of our evening meals and using the kitchen has been home from home. Gorgeous village
The fire and big bath give the cottage luxurious feel it was a friendly place to stay and worked well for the three of us plus dog. My first time in Derbyshire and what a change from Manchester. Just what was needed
Lovely cottage, very well equipped with everything family could need. The playpen worked brilliantly around the first floor balustrade to keep a two year old twins safe. On the wet days we had great fun at chapel batty soft play in Belper plus, of course, enjoyed the warm weather at Chatsworth. Great community shop.
We have had an amazing three days of Jasmine Cottage. The cottage is lovely with everything we need and more, spotlessly clean. The children love the top bedroom and the spacious bath! We visited Gulliver’s Kingdom, Heights of Abraham and explored the lovely village too. Many thanks for an amazing three days.
We have had a lovely few days here at Jasmine cottage which has been the perfect place to stay. We love the village and have enjoyed exploring the narrow roads, looking at all the cottages. On our first day, we had an excellent lunch at the PeliDeli in Matlock. For a really good evening meal we would thoroughly recommend the druid in at Birchover, where the new owners made us so welcome as did the locals. Chatsworth is absolutely amazing and needs a whole day as there is so much to see. The walk from Dugdale can Milldale is worth doing as it is so beautiful. We ate at Pizza Italia Matlock and found the food to be just as we’d read about on TripAdvisor. A visit to Bakewell for putting a wonderful time at the National Tram Museum have ended our stay well and left is feeling that we must come back to the Peak District, as there is so much to see and do.
We had a great stay in this cosy cottage with some of the most comfy beds we have ever slept on. Thank you.
We came last January and decided we had to come back as we enjoyed it so much. We enjoyed it just as much this year. We are now fully rested and relaxed after wonderful nights’ sleep and playing games in front of the fire.
